Shock, Dublin International Film Festival Site is Still Borked

Okay, I complained about this year’s Jameson Dublin International Film Festival and got a response from the CEO saying they were fixing things on the site. After generating?a lot of buzz that the programme would be released on the 29th of January at midnight, the programme is still AWOL. Worse than that, clicking on the calendar on the left-hand-side of the page causes timeouting and?an expected?500 error.

Like, get pull yerselves together DIFF and please get the site up and running again. I’m not the only one waiting for your sexy-looking site to go live. At least get your programme and ticketing into gear. It’s just costing you money at this stage.

Update: Just checked now. It’s 9:07am, it’s working. * claps *

It’s working now alright, but it’s slow as molasses. Looks nice though.

Accessibility-wise, not so hot at all. Pretty bad, in fact.

  2. Anthony Says:

It’s faster now. Booking tickets as we speak.

  3. david Says:

the site is live but what a painful disappointment the schedule is. Its as though Sundance didnt happen.
    Thoughts?

  4. Alexia Says:

@Matt: It’s very slow alright. I’d be interested to see what performance testing when into it.

@Anthony: A little faster, yes, but not as lightweight as last year’s one.

@david: I have to agree. The schedule is disappointing. Why are massive films like ‘There Will Be Blood’ and old films like ‘Once’ (premiered there last year) there at all? I really want to see ‘There Will Be Blood’, but it’s going on general release.. so why are the adding it to the festival?

  5. david Says:

because they have PT Anderson and Daniel Day Lewis there….. I will unfortunately be in London but I would have liked to meet and hear PTs take on the movie and the reaction to its apparent genius.
    Only… I am totally confused by that….

  6. Alexia Says:

@david: Ahhh, didn’t dig that deep into the site… Nice one. Hmm. Makes it tempting, so. I suppose ‘Once’ is being shown again to showcase Hansard as the Great Irish Hope for a Best Song Oscar? Bah. Shaman, my eyeball.

  7. david Says:

well if Johnny Greenwood can’t got an oscar nod because of the prior existence of the songs, then Glen really shouldn’t be either. It is my understanding, correct or otherwise, that Only was written around the songs of The Swell Season the same way Magnolia was written around Aimee Mann’s tracks.
but lets just give Bono an oscar…. well cause he is Bono…. with a capital B

but back to the issue at hand….. What a shoddy line up this year. And if the surprise movie is 10,000BC I will never grace the Fest again.

  8. Alexia Says:

@david: LOL, with you all the way. All the semi interesting ones are sold out. I only got to book for ‘There Will Be Blood’. For crying out loud.. Bah, sooo disappointed.

  9. Anthony Says:

As I said on Twitter, I booked for In Bruges, TWBB and the suprise screening. Hopefully the suprise is not 10,000BC. I wouldn’t mind Jumper though.

  10. Alexia Says:

    @Anthony: Good choices.

Anyone else notice that although films are being marked as ‘full’ but you can still enter your credit card details, as if you are able to buy tickets? Hmm….

  11. david Says:

I think ‘Full’ means full price ticket……
I bought tickets to all the ones I wanted this morning and they all said full…..
I think ’sold out’ should be the universal phrase for tough luck, no tickets for you bob.

  12. Alexia Says:

@david: Hehe - quite possible. I tried to buy some marked as ‘full’ and I’ve yet to receive the confirmation mail. Perhaps it’s just a little slow coming. I guess my annoyances about the crappiness of the site have coloured my interpretation of the word ‘full’.

  13. Alexia Says:

Okay - Booking annoyances over. I’m seeing ‘Est?mago ? A Gastronomic Story’, ‘Callas Assoluta’, ‘Surprise Film’ and ‘The Orphanage’. Might pick up another few later in the week.

  14. david Says:

i went for….. the orphanage, redacted, mongol, love in the time of cholora, bladerunner, my kid could draw that and surprise movie. havent had a proper look at the foreign non sundance films…..

  15. Alexia Says:

@david: Nice picks. Playing with the idea of seeing Blade Runner too.. It would be nice to see on the big screen.
